Virginia Landscape Group is seeking a creative, motivated, and client-focused Landscape Designer / Design-Build Sales Consultant to join our growing team. This role combines landscape design, sales, project coordination, and client relationship management to deliver exceptional outdoor living spaces and landscape solutions.
The ideal candidate is passionate about landscape design, enjoys building relationships with clients, and has the ability to transform client ideas into functional and beautiful outdoor environments. This individual will guide projects from initial consultation through design, estimating, project execution, and final client satisfaction.
This position is responsible for generating design-build sales opportunities, converting qualified leads into clients, and contributing to the overall growth and profitability of Virginia Landscape Group through exceptional design, relationship management, and sales performance.
Success in this role requires a balance of creativity, relationship-building, project management, and sales execution. The ideal candidate is motivated by both designing exceptional outdoor spaces and growing revenue through new and existing client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Sales:
  • Meet with prospective clients and conduct on-site consultations.
  • Perform detailed site analyses and evaluate project opportunities.
  • Design creative and functional landscape solutions that align with client goals, site conditions, and budget requirements.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Develop construction drawings and supporting design details as needed.
  • Create professional 2D and 3D landscape designs using Dynascape software.
  • Utilize LMN estimating software to prepare project budgets and proposals.
  • Present designs and proposals to clients and successfully close sales opportunities.
  • Research and incorporate new landscape products, materials, and industry trends.
  • Conduct post-installation walkthroughs to ensure project quality and client satisfaction.
  • Manage warranty follow-up visits and client communication.
  • Participate in weekly sales and production meetings.

Business Development & Sales Growth:
  • Generate new design-build sales opportunities through networking, referrals, community involvement, strategic partnerships, and relationship-building activities.
  • Consistently build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects.
  • Consistently work toward achieving individual sales goals and annual revenue targets established by the company.
  • Conduct consultations with prospective clients and effectively communicate the value of Virginia Landscape Group's services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with homeowners, builders, architects, real estate professionals, property managers, HOAs, and other referral partners.
  • Follow up on leads promptly and maintain consistent communication throughout the sales process.
  • Create and present professional design proposals that successfully convert prospects into clients.
  • Actively identify opportunities to increase project value through enhancements, upgrades, and additional services that align with client goals.
  • Generate repeat business and referrals by delivering an exceptional client experience.
  • Represent Virginia Landscape Group at industry events, trade shows, home shows, and community networking opportunities.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with past clients to encourage referrals, future projects, and long-term relationships.
  • Track sales activities, prospect interactions, and pipeline progress within the company CRM system.

Project Coordination & Production Support:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding project progress and expectations.
  • Collaborate with Foremen, Crew Leaders, and Production Managers to ensure projects are installed according to design intent and client expectations.
  • Conduct job site visits throughout construction to monitor quality and address client concerns.
  • Communicate change orders, add-ons, and project updates to production teams.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to support successful project execution.
  • Assist with project billing, change orders, material procurement, and project administration.
  • Attend production meetings and communicate project updates to ensure successful project delivery.

Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records and client communications within the company CRM system.
  • Create and maintain project folders and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all client interactions, estimates, contracts, and project information are documented according to company standards.
  • Execute agreements and assist with project administration throughout the sales and construction process.
  • Track project profitability and assist with documentation related to billing and change orders.

General Responsibilities:
  • Develop trust and strong working relationships with clients, team members, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and a passion for landscape design and construction.
  • Support company initiatives and assist with additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a culture focused on quality, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in landscape design, landscape construction, design-build sales, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and general computer applications.
  • Strong mathematical and estimating skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Passion for customer service and delivering exceptional client experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to generate sales, build client relationships, and meet sales goals.
  • Degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Dynascape, LMN, or similar landscape design and estimating software.
  • Knowledge of plants, hardscape materials, drainage systems, irrigation systems, and outdoor living construction.
  • Familiarity with landscape design principles and construction practices specific to Central Virginia and surrounding regions.

Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position with Base Salary plus Commision.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30-4:30.
  • Extended hours may be required during peak seasons or to meet project deadlines.
  • Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments, including client meetings and job site visits.
